Court Upholds Block on President Obama’s Immigration Reform

Last night U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2-1 decision, halted President Obama’s executive orders on immigration, upsetting the administration’s efforts to shield millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation and delivering a major setback to a core policy initiative of the President’s second-term agenda.  The Justice Department announced this morning that it would appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Texas and 25 other states had challenged the President’s authority to implement the programs to provide a reprieve from deportation for certain parents of American children and to expand the existing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) program.  For more information on the Immigration Reform and the up-to-date information, follow CNN news:  http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/09/politics/obama-immigration-appeals-court-ruling/
